Chase & Status have been making beats for more than 20 years, becoming staples on the electronic scene and collaborating with some of the biggest names in UK music (Plan B, Craig David and Stormzy – with whom they reached UK number one with the single Backbone). And their new album Generic Everything, which was released earlier this month, is no different: it brings together the likes of J Hus, Little Simz, Skrillex, Giggs and Debbie.
The group is comprised of Londoners Saul Milton and Will Kennard and they’ve had a big year. Alongside the new album, the duo has headlined the British Grand Prix at Silverstone and the main stage at Reading and Leeds – and gained a new generation of listeners while they’re at it.
Before Chase & Status head off on a UK and European tour from February next year, they shared with Broadsheet how they spend their time in London – from the club they say is “undefeated” to their favourite spot to catch live music.
Hi Saul and Will! Tell us what you like to do on a day off?
Will Kennard: I like to improve my golf handicap.
Saul Milton: Honestly, nothing beats walking my dog around my local area.
