Following two food halls in Tottenham Court Road and Battersea Power Station, Arcade is opening its third and largest emporium in Covent Garden on Friday May 15. The Bedford Street site will offer two standalone restaurants with a central dining space featuring multiple fast-paced food joints designed for dropping into on the go.
Several established Arcade names will join the line-up, including Solis, the South American grill from Ana Goncalves and Zijun Meng; Gracey’s, a New York and New Haven-inspired pizza spot from Grace Surman and James Woodley; and Hero’s vibrant North Indian street food. Chef Luke Farrell’s Plaza Khao Gaeng will also join the site with a new menu focused on “truckstop Thai” cooking from the southern-most part of the country.
Two new concepts are also set to debut alongside them. While the majority of details are under wraps, what we do know is that these will include a chef-led Greek-Cypriot taverna and a spicy Mexican taqueria.
Alongside this, there will be a hybrid cafe and listening bar, Studio Coffee, that will offer coffee and curated vinyl during the day, and cocktails, wine and beer into the evening.
The historic building – once a Victorian boot-lacing factory and a former workplace of Charles Dickens – has been redesigned by Red Deer Architects. Lionel Real de Azúa, architect and co-founder of the practice, said in a statement: “The design pays homage to the building's industrial past through rich oxblood tones and lacquered finishes, while rejecting ornate Victorianism in favour of clean, modern lines. It's a space that feels both rooted and forward-looking — designed to stage a vibrant, ever-evolving mix of culinary experiences.”
Arcade Covent Garden will open on Friday May 15 on 6 Bedford Street, WC2E 9HZ.
