London is well and truly in “false spring” territory right now – we’re tentatively peeling off our coats to soak up some sun one minute, opening our umbrellas and seeking a heat source the next. North London wine bar and restaurant Half Cut Market is making those rare sunny moments sweeter: throughout April it’s offering £5 glasses of rosé any time the temperature hits 16 degrees Celsius or above.
The rosé in question has been chosen by co-owner and sommelier Holly Willcocks (who also leads the wine team at Mountain in Soho): a Reserve de Gassac. It’s a crisp, refreshing drop from the south of France well suited to the bar’s terrace and chef Aidan Richardson’s menu of snacks cooked over charcoal.
As for the weather forecast for Half Cut’s patch of north London? We’d bank on leaving work early next Tuesday and Wednesday.
