Nix the heatwave with a pint and an ice-cream sandwich or soft serve at two east London breweries.

If you’re sweltering through this heatwave sans ice-cream, you’re doing it wrong. London isn’t short of ice-cream options to keep you cool – but now there are two new spots to pick up a cool treat, from one of the capital’s best ice-cream purveyors: Happy Endings. The cheeky frozen foods producer has launched weekend residencies at 40ft Brewery in both Dalston and Blackhorse Road.

Until September, Happy Endings owner Terri Mercieca and her team are serving its beloved ice-cream sandwiches, including the perfectly salty-sweet The Naughty One (miso salt caramel parfait sandwiched between chocolate Guinness cake with soy dulce de leche) and Milk It: chocolate cookies encasing milk ice-cream sprinkled with Maldon salt. It’ll also be swirling its soft serve – with toppings like sprinkles, salted corn dust and dulce de leche – and have a revolving cast of scoops (check its Instagram every Friday for flavours).

The new ice-cream residency will add to 40ft’s range of beers and cocktails, as well as its recently launched taco menu from Acme Fire Cult’s Andrew Clarke.

Happy Endings is at 40ft Brewery Dalston and Blackhorse Road on weekends until September.
