A hike in the Lake District might seem an unusual starting point for a jewellery collection. But for broadcaster and entrepreneur Laura Jackson, it was the elegant simplicity of a carabiner that inspired her when working with British jewellery brand Astley Clarke on a joint collection.
“We were looking through books of the peaks, and we came across a page on carabiners,” Jackson, who had spent a weekend hiking in the Lakes, where her husband Jon Gorrigan grew up, tells Broadsheet. “I was like, god; this is such an amazing thing. It’s so simple and so functional but so beautiful – I even really love the word! And it connects things, that’s all it does.”
Jackson has long worn Astley Clarke’s Celestial bangle, so it was decided the collection would combine carabiners with the star and moon theme that is one of the brand’s signatures. “Celestial astrology is all about connection, right? Whether you believe in it or not life is all about connection and the carabiner is quite literally connecting two things together,” Jackson says.
The result is Celestial Links: a new collection by Jackson and the British jewellery brand, which was founded in 2006 and uses recycled precious metals and responsibly sourced gemstones. Within the collection, references to celestial motifs and tarot archetypes sit alongside richly coloured gemstone pairings, each chosen for their symbolic resonance: malachite and dalmatian jasper represent transformation and joyful new beginnings; rhodochrosite and tiger’s eye embody resilience and emotional strength; while lapis lazuli and red jasper balance wisdom with grounded confidence.
From her tablescapes to her interiors platform Glassette and her new beauty brand Rocco, colour is a theme that runs through everything Jackson touches. “The colours [in the collection] are ones I collect in my brain, on paper, in every mood board I make,” she says, explaining how she starts every new project with a Venn diagram pulling all her references and themes together. “I am dyslexic ADHD and I see everything in colours and patterns.”
While her career and businesses might appear very broad, the guiding mission is very clear. “Everything I do is about connection and joy. Whether the supper club or Glassette or Rocco … there are two things that people want to be in this life and that’s seen and heard. That’s it. And the underbelly to that is connection.”
The Celestial Links collection carries added poignancy for Jackson, who lost her father late last year. “One of the last things my dad said to me before he passed away, and he was not philosophical in any way shape or form unless it was about alcohol or Sheffield Wednesday or cruising, was: ‘Laura, everything in life is connected, whether you realise it or not. everything is connected’. And it really stayed with me.”
Alongside her businesses Jackson also writes a weekly Substack and presents a series on CNN. When Broadsheet asks the obvious question of where she finds the time for it all, Jackson whips out a plastic envelope full of paper spreadsheets and weekly planners. “I’m very organised, I have a great team, and I enjoy what I do … Anything is possible. the only person you’re competing with is yourself. It’s how much you want to do.”
The Laura Jackson x Astley Clarke Celestial Links collection is available in-store at Liberty and the Astley Clarke Covent Garden flagship, as well as online at Astley Clarke, Liberty and Selfridges from September 10, 2026.
