Don your plaid and dig out your riding crops, because Ralph Lauren is bringing its signature New York restaurant concept, The Polo Bar Ralph Lauren, to London. Set to open in 2028 in Vogue House at 1 Hanover Square, the new venue marks the fashion house’s first full-scale restaurant in the UK, following the success of the original Polo Bar in New York, as well as similar restaurants in Paris, Milan, Chengdu and Chicago. The label already operates its Ralph’s Coffee shops in New Bond Street and Brompton Cross.
The new restaurant is being designed as a preppy homage to classic American dining, laced with a British sensibility. Housed within the redeveloped former Conde Nast offices, the bar and restaurant will form part of a broader transformation of the site, which has long been synonymous with British fashion.
Inside, guests can expect the brand’s hallmark interiors: dark timber panelling, leather banquettes, brass detailing and equestrian artwork.
Meanwhile, the menu is expected to mirror its New York counterpart, serving hearty yet refined dishes such as hefty prime-rib steaks, truffle-topped burgers, crab cakes and cocktails in crystal glassware.
Founder Ralph Lauren has described the forthcoming opening as a celebration of “the charm and heritage of British living”, and a continuation of the brand’s expansion into the lifestyle and hospitality space. “London has a timeless appeal,” Lauren said in a statement, “and The Polo Bar will reflect our vision of a place where elegance feels inviting and hospitality feels personal.”
While further details on the design team, chef and opening date remain under wraps, the launch is the latest in a new era of dining for Hanover Square, joining Somssi by Jihun Kim in the Mandarin Oriental and The Maine nearby.
