Charles Jeffrey is a Scottish fashion designer and creative force best known for his label Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, which blends club culture and queer identity with avant-garde tailoring. The Central Saint Martins graduate first made waves in London with his infamous club nights, where fashion and nightlife collided to form the brand’s anarchic spirit. His work draws on punk, performance art, and personal heritage, producing collections that feel both rebellious and deeply poetic. Today, Jeffrey – who works from his studio in Somerset House – stands as one of the UK’s most original voices in fashion, pushing boundaries while celebrating community and self-expression.
“For home stuff, I’m all about reclaiming random objects and painting them, but if I’m honest, my Switch and a round of Smash Bros is my ultimate home indulgence. It’s not exactly ‘décor’, but it’s my go-to escape.”
Vertuo Nespresso machine, from £99
“Food and drink-wise, it’s coffee all the way. I picked up a Nespresso machine at Selfridges. Yes, the Clooney one. I can’t remember the exact model, but it’s my morning lifeline.”
“Honestly, these are my personal pirate boots. I wear them absolutely everywhere. If Kate Moss had her Glastonbury boots, these are my version of that rock’n’roll diva energy. They’re basically my uniform.”
Apple AirPods, from £119
“On the tech side, it’s all about the AirPods. I basically live with them in my ears. Perfect for disappearing into music or calls when I’m on the go.”
“Penhaligon’s has been one of my favourite fragrance houses for years as it ultimately speaks about British classical stories but with a sardonic, whimsical tone of voice. It is an essential addition to any outfit; when I don't wear it, I feel I've left the house with no trousers on!”
Angel Cards, £15.98
“I will never forget how I got my Angel Cards. I was on my way to work trying to track down a Lime bike. After three failed attempts of them either being broken, having a flat tire, or not working, the next bike I tried had a pack of Angel Cards in the front basket. I wrapped them in a scarf and popped them in my bag on the way to work. When I arrived, I spoke with my friend’s mum who is a bit witchy and into them, and she said the whole point of the cards is that they are not meant to be bought, they are meant to find you or you have them bought for you as a gift. They always help clear my mind and reassure me on some of my choices.”
Posca pens, £3.50
“From every retail design, fashion piece, art project, doodle, meeting, or gift, I am forever drawing. It’s a true passion of mine. A Posca pen is my go-to pen. They can be found around my house, office, jacket pocket, and bag. I always must be within arm’s reach of one. “
“As a diva I am always on the move, and I always carry chewing gum on me. It’s a perfect pick me up between meetings. I imagine I look like that viral clip of Rosalia chewing her gum, but not sure I look as cool.”
Tim Burton: Designing Worlds, £34.95
“I love to create and build worlds, and Tim Burton is such an inspiration and muse of mine. This book is such a go-to for me and inspires me on how I can continue to world-build in my brand. It’s such a beautiful and inspirational book and I would recommend it to all.”
The Horrors: Primary Colours, £9.99
“The Horrors were one of my favourite bands growing up. They have been such a huge inspiration in my development and practice, and their song Sea Within a Sea on this album is a classic! Just looking at the album cover brings me such comfort and joy.”
