Last Thursday, August 20, a new sweet treat hit London. Yo-Chi opened in Notting Hill, drawing hours-long queues, with customers coming from as far afield as Guernsey to get a first taste of the Australian fro-yo brand. The queues remain days later – but there could soon be a second London spot for fro-yo fiends to get their fix. South London news page, Best of Clapham, has reported Yo-Chi will open on Bromell’s Road, at the bottom of buzzy Venn Street in Clapham, this October.
Broadsheet reached out to Yo-Chi to confirm whether the news was correct, but a spokesperson says the team isn’t ready to comment on the rumours and their current focus is on Notting Hill. Best of Clapham reports that “paperwork” has already been signed.
Yo-Chi arrives in London from Australia, where it has a cult following and more than 75 sites where customers build their own fro-yo bowls from multiple yoghurt flavours and more than 30 topping options. It’s become a nightclub alternative for those who don’t wish to drink, thanks to its disco balls and thrumming soundtracks (and bouncers that manage the queues that spill from its doors). If the information is correct, it’ll be a fitting addition to Clapham, which is infamous for its enormous Australian population.
