Bubbledogs Returns to Fitzrovia for One Night Only

The grower champagne and hotdog joint closed in 2020, but it’s back on New Year’s Eve with a greatest-hits menu featuring a mac’n’cheese-topped hotdog, and one loaded with guac and sour cream.

From 4pm on December 31, Fitzrovia’s two-Michelin-starred Kitchen Table will revive its fabled alter-ego, Bubbledogs, for one night only. The New Year’s Eve pop-up gives guests the chance to revisit award-winning sommelier Sandia Chang’s grower champagne and hotdog bar, which bridged the gap between London’s casual and fine-dining scenes when it opened in Kitchen Table’s front room more than a decade ago.

“There have been so many requests from our guests to bring back Bubbledogs,” Chang says. “And on NYE, due to a later sitting time for Kitchen Table, our lounge area is free to be used. So I’m taking this opportunity to bring back Bubbledogs. Who wouldn’t want some champagne and hotdogs before going out to party?”

This one-off return will stick closely to the original formula. Celebrations begin early with half a bottle of RH Coutier Tradition champagne paired with one of Bubbledogs’ signature hotdogs and a side of tater tots or sweet potato fries by Chang’s partner, Kitchen Table chef-patron James Knappett.

Choose from the Mac Daddy hotdog – topped with mac’n’cheese and bacon bits – and the José, which is loaded with salsa, guacamole, sour cream and jalapenos. You can also sample some of the sommelier’s other grower champagne favourites by the glass, including JM Seleque and Marie Courtin, alongside a “specially well-priced bottle list”.

Chang will even be bringing back Bubbledogs’ original playlist of “old-school hip-hop, classic pop and cheesy ’90s ballads”, and food will be served in nostalgic retro baskets with paper napkins.

While the Bubbledogs experience will finish early, the Kitchen Table tasting menu runs right up until midnight, when diners will get a glass of something special. “Every year I get to choose the toasting champagne at Kitchen Table,” Chang says. “This year I think I might do some magnums from A Margaine.”

Bubbledogs pops up at Kitchen Table from 4pm on December 31. Tickets are £100 per person and include half a bottle of champagne, a signature hotdog and a side. Reserve here.
