Broadsheet London’s inaugural Dine Out food festival, in partnership with Modelo, is on right now. And as well as one-off chef collaborations and parties, there are a bunch of venues doing exclusive treats that are available throughout the festival that you won’t want to miss.
From now until Monday, August 10, spots like Fink’s, Dishoom and The Dreamery are selling limited-edition menu items just for Dine Out. And when they’re gone, they’re gone.
Even if you’re not a north Londoner, it’s worth the trip to Fink’s to try its Tutti Frutti Cube Cake. Dreamt up by Adriann Ramirez, head of pastry at Fink’s, the pastel-painted cuboid creation is made with strawberry sponge layered with Morello cherry and blackberry curd, then covered with multi-coloured Swiss meringue buttercream. Drop in and order it from either Fink’s at Clissold House and Fink’s Salt and Sweet until August 9.
Speaking of sweet treats, it’s not far from Fink’s to The Dreamery, the ethereal ice-cream-shop-meets-wine-bar from the maverick team behind Goodbye Horses and Stable Wines. From now until August 9, you can score a vibrant scoop of strawberry and pineapple weed ice-cream.
Right across the road, the Goodbye Horses-adjacent coffee shop Day Trip is pouring Cascara Iced Foamies until August 9. Designed especially for Dine Out, this playful, lightly caffeinated iced tea is topped with a creamy whip of pink hibiscus foam.
Dine Out is full of one-off collaborations – there’s been the triumphant link-up between Jeremy Lee at Quo Vadis and The Plimsoll’s Ed McIlroy, plus Impala’s Meedu Saad cooking on the Sessions Arts Club terrace – and here’s another: Dishoom and Happy Endings. Ice-cream queen Terri Mercieca, founder of Happy Endings, has created a dessert inspired by Dishoom’s flavours. The Nimbu Soda Sundae tops scoops of lemony ice-cream with saucy mango, berries, tropical fruits and puffed rice. It’s available until August 10 at Dishoom Permit Room Portobello.
Lastly, beloved Leyton bakery Farha has put its own Middle Eastern twist on the classic hot dog. Available from now until August 9, the Levant Dog swaps sausage for a juicy kofte, which is then topped with a sweet and tangy tamarind ketchup, a preserved lemon mustard and a spicy pickled green chilli relish. It’s served in a flaky, hot dog-shaped croissant bun.
