There’s something I find deeply comforting about the shift to autumn. Suddenly, being indoors feels less like retreat and more like renewal. It’s a season of nesting, when I fixate on creating spaces that feel safe and warm. For me, the arrival of the new season is an opportunity to shed old habits, and clutter, to make space for new ideas and, well, new things. Here’s what’s been catching my eye recently.
Here's what's been catching my eye recently...
Ffern Frangrances
A new season calls for a fresh scent and I adore Ffern fragrances. They’re organic, vegan, and made from high-quality, sustainably sourced natural ingredients. Ffern releases a new fragrance four times a year, at the equinox and the solstice, to align with the rhythms of the seasons.
Le Kilt
Can we discuss the kilt? It might not be considered the sexiest item of clothing, but I can’t do cooler weather without one. I love Le Kilt’s.
The English Boys
I finally have a salon hang in my hallway. It’s a personal mix of photographs, travel souvenirs and artworks. I particularly love the three beautiful birth plates [ceramic keepsakes commemorating a birth] handmade by The English Boys.
Cressida Jamieson
Talking of hanging things, you can be as imaginative as you want – try framing napkins from your favourite restaurant. I recently had two napkins embroidered by the talented Cressida Jamieson for a friend.
Josh Page Studio
Lighting is everything at this time of year, and there’s nothing cosier than curling up on the sofa and switching on a gorgeous lamp like this handcrafted block from Josh Page Studio.
Molly Kayll
I’ve had my eye on this Sunday Pint print by London artist Molly Kayll for a while – there’s a joy in it and it feels apt for autumn.
Giant Year Planner
I like to get organised at this time of year, so I created this giant A0 yearly calendar, available on Etsy. It’s huge, so useful, and – if I do say so myself – excellently designed.
Dexam Cookware
Cosy season always calls for something warm and comforting to eat. I’m thinking a Julius Roberts stew – and this Dexam non-stick chef’s pan is the perfect thing to cook it in.
All in Good Taste is a regular column from Laura Jackson and this is the first installment.
