The much-anticipated third restaurant by the beloved pasta group will open in Soho on Thursday April 16, following a two-day soft launch period in which customers can get 50 per cent off the entire bill … if they can nab a table.

Huge news for pasta fans (aka pretty much everyone): Padella has announced that its third restaurant will open on Thursday April 16. The long-awaited Soho outpost on Kingly Street will seat 80 covers across two floors.

“We are pumped to be opening in Soho and bringing our pasta to the neighbourhood,” Tim Siadatan, Padella co-founder, said in a statement. “It’s a very exciting moment for us.”

The first Padella opened in Borough Market a decade ago, and has been instrumental in shaping the city’s obsession with fresh pasta. The brainchild of chef Siadatan (ex-St John and Moro) and Jordan Frieda – who together founded Highbury & Islington’s Trullo in 2010), Padella continues to champion simple Italian cooking, hand-rolled pasta and locally sourced ingredients.

Fans of Padella’s signature pici cacio e pepe and pappardelle with eight-hour Hereford beef shin ragu will be pleased to hear that both dishes will make it onto the Soho menu. There’ll also be favourites including the glossy ravioli with Westcombe ricotta and spinach tagliarini with nettles and topped with a golden egg yolk.

To drink? Mixology legend Ryan Chetiyawardana, aka Mr Lyan, has created an exclusive suite of cocktails for the Soho site, including an affogato Martini.

The design of the space will draw inspiration from the “bracchis” of Wales, Italian cafes that were once popular in across the Welsh hills: think Formica in faux teak and marble finishes. There’ll also be nods to Padella’s existing restaurants, melding Borough Market’s monochrome palette and Shoreditch’s richer leather tones.

To celebrate the new opening, Padella will be running a two-day soft launch on April 14 and 15, in which the entire menu will be 50 per cent off. There are no reservations, but guests can join via an online queue system. Good luck.

Padella will open its third restaurant at 2 Kingly Street on Thursday April 16, with a soft launch from April 14-15.
