A simple £1 donation added to your restaurant bill will help StreetSmart support charities to provide meals, accommodation, healthcare and more to those who need it most.

What do restaurants like Barrafina, Bancone, Camille and Legado have in common? Aside from all being excellent restaurants for a festive catch-up with friends, they’re all participating in this year’s StreetSmart campaign. And that means there are more ways than ever to do your part in helping to end homelessness.

“StreetSmart is almost a festive tradition in the London restaurant scene,” says Jimi Famurewa, Broadsheet London columnist and StreetSmart ambassador. “It’s a really neat, elegant and simple way to support homelessness charities across the city … a great way to pay forward the act of a lovely meal you’re having in the festive period.”

The way StreetSmart works is simple. The charity asks participating restaurants to add a voluntary donation of £1 per table to diners’ bills across the campaign period of November and December. Thanks to StreetSmart’s partnership with Land Aid, a property industry charity which entirely funds the costs of running the campaign, every single pound contributed by diners goes to homelessness charities across the UK. Your £1 may go to provide supported accommodation, food, counselling, education and training or other vital services; you can feel secure in the knowledge that you’ve contributed to an essential cause.

Since launching in 1998, StreetSmart has raised more than £16.2 million for charities across the UK. Last year alone, it raised £1,178,000 – and in 2026, the charity is keen to top this.

“It’s always great to see hospitality come together in support of StreetSmart,” Daniel Eilenberg, co-founder of Half Cut Market, tells Broadsheet. “It’s also great to see how much the little donations add up over the course of the month.”

For Anna Watkins, Barrafina’s managing director, StreetSmart is a charity close to her heart. “With our restaurants being in central London and us all seeing the devastating impact of homelessness of people’s live every day, we are proud to promote their tireless work in providing shelter and a home as well as tackling the root causes of homelessness,” she said in a statement.

Want to be a part of the push to end homelessness? The next time you’re planning a festive meal, simply visit StreetSmart’s website to discover the full list of participating restaurants. There are more than 300 to choose from in London alone and they range from some of the year’s hottest new openings (think: Lunette, Bar Blondie, Cloth Cornhill, Pam and Oudh 1722) to beloved institutions like St John, Brasserie Zedel and Ottolenghi.

The 2026 StreetSmart campaign runs from November 1 to December 31.
