Dalston live-fire restaurant Acme Fire Cult has curated a month-long festival celebrating Hackney’s restaurants, with some of the borough’s long-standing favourites – alongside some buzzy newcomers – getting involved. The Restaurant Festival Hackney (running from now until February 28) is a collaboration with dining app EatClub, which lets restaurants offer discounts for walk-in customers during less busy periods.
February is one of London’s slowest months for hospitality. By hosting a festival dedicated to making eating out more affordable, EatClub and Acme Fire Cult hope to support Hackney’s independent businesses. Fans of Acme Fire Cult will have a new reason to visit chef Andrew Clarke’s restaurant in a former carpark; it has temporarily reinvented itself as a curry house. Shaped by Clarke’s travels, the menu stays true to its live-fire ethos, with dishes including fiery stuffed Goan mackerel and a spicy lamb chop railway curry.
Elsewhere, diners can get up to 40 per cent off Dalston’s Turkish institution Mangal 2, chef Abby Lee’s modern Malaysian dishes at Mambow, north African share plates at Berber & Q and spicy Margaritas and crispy grilled tortillas topped with cheese and pork carnitas at Corrochio’s. More highlights include chef Joe Lippman’s limited residency at Big Night, handmade dumplings at My Neighbours the Dumplings and sharing-plates paired with low-intervention wines at Sune.
To get involved in the festival, all you need to do is download the EatClub app, search for a participating restaurant and find out when the discount applies.
The Restaurant Festival Hackney runs from now until February 28.
