Warning: this article contains spoilers of The Celebrity Traitors.
Halloween might be this Saturday, but for many Londoners, the real highlight of the weekend is set to be the night before. The finale of The Celebrity Traitors kicks off at 8pm on Friday, October 30 on BBC One – and it’s a bumper 80-minute episode. Of course, you could watch it at home … but why not make an event of it at a viewing party? Across the capital, pubs, bars, restaurants and even cinemas are hosting events that will have you screaming at the big screen, pint in hand. Will Maya Jama manage a solo win as the OG traitor of the series? Or will the faithfuls manage to pick through the layers of deception and secure a win for the good guys? Will James Blunt don an extra-special tracksuit for his final challenge? Who knows. What we do know, is that the prize fund (which could be up to £100,000) will go to charity. And, that we won’t know what to do with ourselves once the series ends.
Flat Iron Square, Borough
Pair your evening of deception and betrayal with crispy hand-battered Korean fried chicken and New York-style pepperoni slices at Flat Iron Square. The London Bridge stalwart runs regular live sport screenings on its enormous 16-metre HD screen, and has nailed its large group-friendly street food format – so you know that you’ll be in good hands when catching all that Round Table action. Bookings are encouraged, though walk-ins are welcome too.
Finsbury Park Picturehouse, Finsbury Park
Will watching the Endgame on a cinema screen enhance your ability to catch every stolen glance, tiny smirk or panicked gasp on the traitors’ murderous faces? The only way to find out is by booking at ticket at Finsbury Park Picturehouse, where your ticket gets you bottomless popcorn and a free cocktail (do you dare order the Traitor’s Tipple or will you play it safe with the Faithful Fancy?) and more food and drink is available to order. It’ll also screen the bonus companion programme, The Traitors Uncloaked, straight after the finale.
Mezcalito, Chelsea
While the celebrity contestants awkwardly balance their buffet meals on their laps in the castle, you could enjoy a feast of padron peppers, beef birria tacos, churros with dulce de leche and of course, a themed Faithful or Traitor cocktail. Chelsea Mexican restaurant and tequila bar Mezcalito is hosting a viewing party from 7pm, with a £40 per person set menu.
John the Unicorn, Peckham
In the Traitors Castle, going to the bar for a drink is very dangerous: what if your fizzy rosé is actually a poisoned chalice that gets you murdered in plain sight? Thankfully, your beverage is guaranteed to be poison-free at John the Unicorn in Peckham, which is going all-out for its party with a pre-show quiz from 6.45pm (with prizes up for grabs), themed cocktails and dancing afterwards.
The Two Brewers, Clapham
The Traitors is undoubtedly one of the campest shows to grace our televisions – so why not bring that energy up a notch at one of south London’s favourite queer venues? At The Two Brewers in Clapham, award-winning drag artist and cabaret star Ember will host what is sure to be a high-energy watch party with plenty of laughs.
The Leyton Star, Leyton
It’s a shame that Ross Kemp has already been murdered (and suffered the indignity of it happening by yawn) – the Barking-born actor probably would’ve garnered plenty of support at this east London boozer. The Leyton Star will show all the action unfold on its big screens, best enjoyed with Patty & Bun burgers and locally brewed beers. Booking a table is recommended.
Corner Corner, Canada Water
The tickets are free, the wine is natural and the burgers are by Chick’n’Sours at the watch party hosted at Corner Corner, Canada Water’s relatively new food hall and event venue. Reserving a spot is recommended, and there’ll be pre-show debates (will anyone figure out Maya Jama has been murdering them the whole time?), a post-show debrief (why did Miranda Hart debunk her “bouncing floor” theory?) and a live DJ.
The Prince, West Brompton
West Brompton pub The Prince is bound to be buzzing at its screening party, which is free to enter, though booking ahead is always a good idea. Savour all the shock twists and embarrassing Round Table blunders as you work your way through the Prince’s pan-Asian menu, which includes teriyaki pork bao, prawn dumplings and tofu karaage.
