As the art fair – which champions independent and emerging artists – returns to London, Broadsheet finds five fresh talents to track down, in partnership with The Other Art Fair.

International arts showcase The Other Art Fair returns to London in March, giving independent artists the opportunity to sell their works directly to art lovers. Since the fair’s first edition, in 2011, it’s unearthed countless numbers of successful artists – and expanded to other cities including New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

“The beauty of the fair is that the connections and contacts that our artists make are lasting, and can impact our artists’ careers in a big way,” says Hannah Grout, The Other Art Fair London’s senior fair manager. Success stories include contemporary artist Anna Sudbina, who first exhibited at the fair years ago, breaking through at the 2024 fair, where she sold more than 13 pieces and 10 originals and was offered a solo exhibition.

When the 2026 spring edition arrives at the Truman Brewery, located on Brick Lane, it’ll have more than 175 artists selling affordable works, as well as interactive experiences (hint: drop-in ping pong tournaments), live DJ sets, a participatory tarot art workshop, a full fair bar, and much more. Grout says when she was seeking new artists for this year’s fair, she was “looking out for fresh colours, mediums and techniques to bring a vibrant feel to the fair. A point of difference is always crucial when it comes to curating, we like to showcase a breadth of artwork – this edition does not disappoint.”

There’s a lot to see, so in partnership with The Other Art Fair, we’ve rounded up five new artists to keep an eye out for.

Hyun Yoon

South Korean-born, UK-based visual artist Hyun Yoon draws on her early career in design to make rhythmic, abstract works that evoke the natural world. Yoon’s pieces draw attention to the gradual changes in the weather, light and landscape, but also the stillness of nature in media including pastel pencils and acrylic, which she often applies to canvas and paper with a roller to mark texture in a way brushes can’t. In 2024, she won the Pastel Award in the Jackson’s Art Prize, pegging her as a name to watch.

Jo Fitzgerald

Abstract artist Jo Fitzgerald’s work brims with feminine energy. Her intricate, detailed pieces are awash with colour and vibrancy, and from her Devon studio she paints from intuition to create emotive works ranging from accessibly priced small works on paper to large-scale canvases. At The Other Art Fair, she’ll be exhibiting her latest collection, Wild and Free.

Simona Puidokaite

Born in Lithuania and now based in London, Simona Puidokaite works in an abstract minimalism vernacular, expressing concepts via geometric forms, textural elements and understated colour. Her work – which is influenced by the Bauhaus movement – is rooted in purity and stems from the simplicity of a square, expanding out to explore themes and emotions in other shapes and colours. She makes pieces on raw linen and handmade cotton paper, and delves into how colour can change moods and how shapes interact with one another.

Eva Ullrich

Eva Ullrich’s works may incline towards abstraction, but still reveal themselves as landscapes via their lines and gradations. Born and based in the Lake District, she spent time expressing the landscapes of the Scottish Highlands while studying at the Glasgow School of Art; a theme of landscape continues to resonate in her work. A recent series of acrylics on canvas leans on her time spent in Norway and Iceland, and the specific shapes, colours and light she saw in their landscapes.

Liaqat Rasul

Liaqat Rasul explores shape, form and the tactile qualities of paper through spontaneous, vibrant mark-making. Using low-tech tools such as scissors and scalpels, to make works that incorporate collage, three-dimensional layering, pleating and stitching, his practice embraces imperfection and material immediacy. Drawing inspiration from the energy and density of London, Rasul translates the city’s rhythm into richly textured works that balance structure and disorder.

The Other Art Fair runs from March 5–8 at The Truman Brewery.
